Mr. John Spencer Shaw

At my 40 week doctor's appointment Dr. Williams was afraid that Spencer might be getting too large & still showing no signs of coming. She requested a sono to get a better idea of how big he was. We got to see a 3D sono of his sweet little face & the sonographer measured him at 9 1/2 pounds (yikes!) Upon hearing that, Dr. Williams scheduled me to go in Thursday night (the day after he was due) for cervidil to get things started & to be induced Friday morning with Pitocin. Well, the cervidil was all that it took! We only slept about 2 hours before I knew my contractions were no longer Braxton Hicks, but the real deal. 2 AM to 4:45 when I finally got the epidural were intense (to say the least). Things finally calmed down for a few minutes when that kicked in & Bran was able to at least call our parents & let them know that Spencer was coming, & soon. My doctor wasn't getting in until 7, but I knew I couldn't wait until then. After a short 30 minutes of pushing, our beautiful boy arrived at 6:49 AM on Friday, February 8th. Bran said he literally shot out & that all Dr. Turner did was catch him! He was 8 pounds, 9 ounces & 21 3/4 inches long. That long body explains why I had been so miserable there at the end! He looked so much like Savannah : ) And no one could get over how long his fingers, toes & nails were.

 There's my Daddy!
 Meeting big sis.

We gave Savannah a Cabbage Patch doll so that she has a baby to take care of when we are taking care of Spencer.
 First bath.
She was not a fan of the crying the bath brought on...better get used to it girl!
 Cousins!

Summer came to see him that first night.
The Hermans & DeCiccos came on Saturday.
Look at the flock of ladies around him!

The big sisters holding their little siblings.

He was just staring at Savannah : )
We wrapped him up in the same blanket Bran came home from the hospital in : )

Things had gone so well that we got to leave just 36 hours after delivery & we were so ready to get home & get life started as the 4 of us!

Catch up pics

In an attempt to be caught up with blogging by the time Spencer gets here, here are lots of random pics (mostly ones that have been trapped on my phone for months : )
She fell asleep wearing these silly glasses : )
I never want to forget this I Spy phase she is in!
This white-trash pic cracks me up: wearing Corey's hat with a plastic rat slung over her shoulder...?
 Teaching Daddy pat-a-cake.
Practicing being a big sister by feeding Chapel.
Boots, diaper & purse...ready to go!
Being serenaded by a mariachi band.
Too much ice cream with Uncle Corey.
Dinner with a great friend, Amanda, who was in town. Or "Aunty Manda" as she calls herself around Savannah.
Modeling her sweet unicorn shirt from Gammie.
I found her sitting on the potty reading this "book about a boy & a train" as she put it.
The "incident" with tester lipstick at Ulta.
Modeling her baby carrier (and yes, baby is wearing only a scarf)
 The robot family we made.
After being left alone with Daddy:
She told me she was going to wake up baby brother & proceeded to blow this noise maker at my belly.
Here, her baby doll is feeling the baby in her tummy kick : )

 Uncle Corey doing double time!!
 Helping feed baby Jameson.
Here is the cake we made Mom & Corey for their bdays. About 10 kinds of sprinkles on top, thanks to the sprinkle fanatic.
Enjoying the most beautiful cake ever at Sophie's bday party...rainbow!
