At my 40 week doctor's appointment Dr. Williams was afraid that Spencer might be getting too large & still showing no signs of coming. She requested a sono to get a better idea of how big he was. We got to see a 3D sono of his sweet little face & the sonographer measured him at 9 1/2 pounds (yikes!) Upon hearing that, Dr. Williams scheduled me to go in Thursday night (the day after he was due) for cervidil to get things started & to be induced Friday morning with Pitocin. Well, the cervidil was all that it took! We only slept about 2 hours before I knew my contractions were no longer Braxton Hicks, but the real deal. 2 AM to 4:45 when I finally got the epidural were intense (to say the least). Things finally calmed down for a few minutes when that kicked in & Bran was able to at least call our parents & let them know that Spencer was coming, & soon. My doctor wasn't getting in until 7, but I knew I couldn't wait until then. After a short 30 minutes of pushing, our beautiful boy arrived at 6:49 AM on Friday, February 8th. Bran said he literally shot out & that all Dr. Turner did was catch him! He was 8 pounds, 9 ounces & 21 3/4 inches long. That long body explains why I had been so miserable there at the end! He looked so much like Savannah : ) And no one could get over how long his fingers, toes & nails were.
There's my Daddy!
Meeting big sis.
We gave Savannah a Cabbage Patch doll so that she has a baby to take care of when we are taking care of Spencer.
First bath.
She was not a fan of the crying the bath brought on...better get used to it girl!
Cousins!
Summer came to see him that first night.
The Hermans & DeCiccos came on Saturday.
Look at the flock of ladies around him!
The big sisters holding their little siblings.
He was just staring at Savannah : )
We wrapped him up in the same blanket Bran came home from the hospital in : )
Things had gone so well that we got to leave just 36 hours after delivery & we were so ready to get home & get life started as the 4 of us!
