We flew out one morning in May with all the Winns to Seattle to begin our Alaskan cruise!
Here we are with all our stuff taking the monorail to our hotel (Never again. Taxi all the way!)
We spend the evening in Seattle at the local market.
This place is nuts! Lots of little booths selling handmade items.
Fish & seafood.
The famous Pike Place Fish Co. where the guys throw the fish around & are really loud.
It was really neat to watch.
Not sure how this boy slept through it all.
Of course lots of food.
And row after row of flowers!
The next morning we boarded our Princess ship.
Some line-dancing.
These boys were a little too cool for the dancing.
We tried though!
Best buds.
The kids LOVED the bunk beds!
First formal night.
Happy bday Jameson!
There were always lots of yummy food options for dinner.
Watching some dancing.
This girl danced the night away with lots of silly moves.
First port: Ketchikan, Alaska
We took a bus in to town to shop in the drizzling rain.
This totem pole was just her size!
We did a duck boat tour of the town.
We did a little swimming on the boat...but it was kinda cold for me!
Early one morning we did some scenic cruising up to the Tracy Arm Fjord.
This is a great time to mention that the littlest Shaw refused to adjust to the time change in Alaska. This meant he was usually ready to go for the day around 3:00am. Yep. And sleeping in a tiny room meant one of us had to take him upstairs while the others slept. Spence & I became familiar with all the old people who drank coffee on the top deck at 4 am. But this also means we were the first to see the floating icebergs & got to watch the sunrise as we traveled into the fjord. Thanks Spencer for making sure we didn't miss it!
Can't be too mad at that sweet face though.
The melting snow on the mountains created these waterfalls all over.
Between the mountains you can see part of the main iceberg.
Ready for a nap so early? Shocker.
Second Port: Skagway, Alaska
We all took a 3.5 hour train ride on the White Pass & Yukon Route.
Waterfalls through the forest.
Part of the train ride took us into Canada.
We could even step outside of the train car & get an outside view.
Savannah always loved to see what shapes her towels were folded into when we got back to the room.
We played BINGO one morning & Corey won! (With Dad's $ & card I should add : )
Savannah liked to use the stamper.
Third port: Juneau, Alaska
The Shaws took a helicopter ride & landed on a glacier. Umm, amazing.
Savannah got to ride next to the pilot.
And Spencer sat in my lap.
Beautiful views from the helicopter.
Here we are on a glacier!!
We Instagrammed this next pic & tagged #rangersaroundtheworld because of Bran's hat & won! Check the next Ranger's program for our pic : )
Bran is drinking glacier water here : )
The rest of us tried it too, but weren't as brave/strong as him.
Spencer even took some of his first steps on the glacier!
Eating some glacier ice.
Our ride back.
We couldn't keep this man off the bunk ladder.
Second formal night.
Our server made Savannah a little napkin mouse.
I love these sunset pics : )
Our professional pics.
Fourth port: Victoria, British Columbia
Fairmont Empress Hotel
Parliament buildings
And I love all these pics of the harbor that B took.
OK, so I have to tell you about the latest thing Savannah's Uncle Corey has taught her to do. That (below). I have probably 30 pics from the trip & countless ones since then of her doing the peace sign & that face. Thx Cor.
Parliament was so pretty at night.
Back in Seattle we spent the final night at a random street festival that my parents stumbled upon. Serious hippies!
Check out the fries!
You could see the Space Needle from the festival.
Dont' look too closely at this last pic. It was drizzling & we were all pretty exhausted! We had such an amazing trip though!!! Alaska was beautiful!
