8 Months

All boy. I feel like Spencer went from sweet baby to all-boy overnight. And I have been told twice this week by strangers that he is "boy". Their explanation was that some babies could go either way & when you look at his face, he is definitely a boy! A week before he turned 8 months he began crawling. This was something we knew was coming very soon, but weren't anxious for. Sure enough, as soon as he started crawling it was straight towards plug outlets, trashcans (to knock over) & electronic chords. Boys seem to have a magnet drawing them towards danger. And he is pulling himself to a standing position. He is so cute though because he gets a grin across his whole face because he's so proud of himself! And now there are all sorts of new things he can reach to put in his mouth. He is love love loving his babyfood: carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, green beans, peas, peaches, plums, prunes, apples, pears and I mix cereal in with most baby food to thicken it up. We tried mashed up bananas & yogurt melts, but he doesn't like any consistency other than pureed yet. They weighed him at Savannah's doctor appointment which was a week after he turned 8 months & he was 22 pounds, 9 ounces. I bet he will slim down soon though with all of his moving around (& maybe me too with all of the chasing I am about to be doing!) His napping has taken a nose-dive because he would rather crawl around his crib & stand & shake the rails : ( Hopefully this is a short-lived phase. He loves playing patty-cake & head bumper with his sister, but his favorite game is peek-a-boo & laughs the whole time he is playing it. He loves to look in the mirror & that makes him laugh too. It's so fun watching him as he is discovering this big world around him. Slow down a bit though, buddy, you are still our baby : )

I think these pics below are a good description of Spencer these days. They were difficult to get because he wouldn't stay still!
